TCS At A Glance 2010-2011

The goal of Trinity is to provide a personalized, goal-directed approach to education and to equip children with the desire, discipline and skills to pursue excellence in all that they do “heartily as unto the Lord”. We seek to equip students to be disciples of Christ, applying their knowledge in creative and responsive ways to life and the world around them.

Academics

We believe academic excellence is a worthy goal and are continually seeking the most excellent learning tools offered for our students. Following the traditional classroom approach, we emphasize fundamentals of education which serve as the foundation for advanced work. In the earlier years, we offer each student a strong, phonics-based reading program and a solid, traditional mathematics program. Our curriculum combines with a biblical worldview to equip our students to integrate God’s Word into their daily lives.

Above Average Standardized Testing

A quality marker for our school is our above average results on the Stanford Tests taken annually.

Graduate Success

We believe the success of our graduates is a powerful indicator of the quality of education students receive at Trinity. In the last three years in fact, over 95% of our graduates achieved first quarter honor roll status at their respective high schools.  Moreover, alumni from Trinity have gone on to prestigious colleges such as Harvard, Northwestern, Wheaton, Loyola and University of Illinois.

Teachers

Every teacher at Trinity is state-certified and more importantly, has answered a call from the Lord to grow our students into disciples. With our small class size, our teachers take the time to pray with their students, to help them when they are struggling and to celebrate with them when they achieve.

Chapel

All students and faculty gather weekly on Wednesday mornings to worship our God together. With over 90 different churches represented at our school, we are blessed with many gifted speakers and music leaders. Parents are warmly received at Chapel each Wednesday morning from 8:35 - 9:15am.

Core Curriculum

We are committed to excellence. Our curriculum reflects the finest materials available and meets or exceeds Illinois state standards. Trinity’s core curriculum includes Bible, Reading/Literature, English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Spelling. Our Director of Curriculum resources our teachers in core subjects with leading Christian curriculum such as Abeka, ACSI and Bob Jones. Our current math curriculum is Harcourt Brace and Holt for Pre-Algebra and Algebra. Each year we review our curriculum to be certain we continue to offer our students the best learning tools available.

Beyond the Basics

We recognize the entire student at Trinity and provide all students a full learning experience. That is why, in addition to the core curriculum, students 1st through 8th grade are offered Art, Music, Computer, Library, P.E. and Spanish. These opportunities give students a chance to discover and develop their God-given gifts in the areas of academics, arts and athletics. Students seeking additional academic opportunities may choose to participate in the annual Regional Spelling Bee, the Joliet Area 7th & 8th grade Math Competition, the GLAC Regional Speech Meet and our afterschool Chess Club.

Athletics

Trinity offers an excellent athletic experience for students beginning in 5th grade. We compete in the GLAC Christian Conference and the Trinity Christian Eagles have consistently ranked in the top standings. Under the strong leadership of our Athletic Director and our coaches, we offer students the following sports:

Girls: Volleyball, Basketball, Cheerleading and Soccer co-ed

Boys: Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer co-ed

Arts

Trinity invests in the gifts of all our students including arts. Students may participate in a band experience with Music on the Move, perform in our Christmas musicals and exhibit their work at our annual Art Fair. At the middle school level, our annual Spring Musical and electives such as photography, sewing, woodworking and more are offered to our students. Additionally, through our partnership with the School of Arts, our students are also offered afterschool opportunities including music, voice and drama lessons.

Serving From the Heart

Volunteering is an essential part of our Trinity Family. Parents are welcomed and required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per child by June 1 of the school year with a maximum of 60 hours per family. Although most parents exceed this requirement, a $20.00 fee will be assessed for each required volunteer hour not met.

PTM (Parent Teacher Ministry) Be inspired. Be informed. Be involved.

At Trinity, we partner with parents to equip our students to be disciples. Our PTM is a vital liaison between the faculty and our parents. PTM holds three annual meetings during the school year but its work is ongoing leading ministries like Moms In Touch, Educator Edibles (providing meals to teachers during meetings) and Family Fun Nights.

Mandatory Fundraising

Unlike other Christian schools, Trinity is not affiliated with a church and does not receive any church subsidies or public funding. Our primary source of income is tuition and in order to keep tuition as affordable as possible, we need to fundraise.  Rather than have several smaller fundraising projects, we have chosen to hold three (3) major fundraisers each school year and each family has minimum requirements as detailed in our Parent/Student Handbook.

Uniforms

Trinity’s dress code is designed to encourage students to see beyond the outside of others to the heart of their classmates. Our uniforms are modest and reasonably priced as they are available at most retailers. See the Dress Code section of our Student Handbook online for more details.

Before and After School Kids (BASK)

We recognize many families need to work in order to make Trinity an option for their child(ren). In support of those families and others who need extended care, Trinity offers BASK mornings from 7:00-8:15am and after school from 3:31-6:00pm. There is an additional cost for this Christian-based program and it is available for full day Kindergarten through 8th grades.

Other information

We offer students milk  and hot lunch options daily. Our school day runs from 8:15am to 3:15pm and half day Kindergarten is from 8:15 to 11:30am. Busing is not available. Carpooling is encouraged.
